About us

KAW is entirely by Autistics for Autistics, formed when a bunch of friends saw the benefits of having our own, independent group specifically for gender queer folk and women. As KAW, we have been meeting for companionship and adventures since 2024.

Kia ora, I’m Sarah Hoefhamer. I run KAW along with many wonderful friends. I am a late-diagnosed woman, mother to two Autistic teens. Life was pretty bleak before I became part of the Autistic community, but I keep pinching myself because I’ve never felt so safe and loved, especially in this group. Life can be good, I promise.
